Chelsea Spencer
Chelsea Spencer, LMSW
Hey there! I’m Chelsea, your empathetic guide on the path to well-being. As someone who considers themselves a highly sensitive person, I have a lifetime of experience with this. I began my interest and desire in supporting others, probably about the same time as you did, in childhood. I was lucky enough to have a fabulous psychology professor in my 2nd year at community college, which helped me to finally gain an interest, and gather the motivation to take school and my studies seriously. I have had a passion, and thanks to my ADHD, a hyper-focus, on all things mental health related since. I now have an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Michigan State University and a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Michigan.
With four years of experience in the field, I’ve had the privilege of working in diverse therapeutic settings, from schools to community mental health to partial hospitalization settings. My roles have included outpatient therapist, facilitating groups with a focus on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and co-occurring disorders, and mentoring teenage girls in school environments. I’ve also contributed my skills to The Women’s Center of Southeastern Michigan, where I’ve assisted individuals dealing with PTSD, anxiety, depression, C-PTSD, chronic pain, autoimmune diseases, and the intricacies of grief and loss.
Beyond my therapeutic role, I’m a quirky individual who revels in the simple joys of life – wandering in nature, having heart-to-heart conversations with squirrels (they’re surprisingly good listeners!), and extending a hand to every dog, even the grumpiest ones. My commitment to personal growth is unwavering; I am continually engaged in my own therapy journey, participating in courses, workshops, meditations, breathwork sessions, and more. My passions extend to yoga, pickleball, mindfulness practices, swimming in Lake Michigan, immersing myself in nature’s beauty, dancing, and exploring the world of edible and medicinal plants, herbs, and spices. If you’re not completely off-put by now, feel free to reach out and we can chat more about what it would look like working together and how I can support you.

Testimonials
“Sessions with Chelsea offer a good chance for me to both reflect on how things have gone in the past & how I want them to go in the future + what steps I can take to work towards that. Chelsea also does a good job of giving positive feedback & recognizing areas of strength while also gently addressing more uncomfortable topics & weaker areas where there’s room for growth.”
“I love how sweet and down to Earth she is! As a young adult, it’s very nice to be spoken to on an equal basis. Every session feels as if I’m just speaking to a friend and the atmosphere Chelsea creates is so comforting. I love that we can talk about anything without any kind of feeling of shame or confusion pop up. Chelsea is so very wonderful and I appreciate all that she does. She has very fun big sister energy.”
